FIRST ANNUAL FUNDRAISER EDITION
VIV MILLER
Untitled 2008
The CACSA is pleased to announce its first Annual Fundraiser Limited Print Edition, created by notable young Melbourne-based painter Viv Miller. Featuring her subtle, captivating imagery, exploring the growing tension between nature and culture, this richly coloured archival print provides an exceptional beginning to this new initiative.
Peter McKay, former Curator of CACSA has commented:
Miller's work would be a worthy addition to any existing contemporary collection, or the perfect place for individuals seeking to start buying new art. Miller has the remarkable capacity to contrast and collide elements of our ideal and actual worlds in a way that validates and reconciles the importance of our dreams and inevitability of our discontent. It is this simultaneity, as well as her formidable technical skills, that makes her body of work exceptional and her future immensely promising.
The CACSA Fundraiser Edition is available at $385 (including GST), and has been produced in a limited edition of 35 as an Epson (giclée) print on Hahnemuhle German Etching Paper, until sold.
The ambition for the CACSA Annual Fundraiser Edition is to develop new sources of revenue in order to expand its vital activities of supporting and promoting contemporary visual art and critical engagement in South Australia. In 2008 the CACSA has presented additional projects to its already significant gallery and publishing programs including - Recorded Images, a video screening program at the Art Gallery of South Australia during the Adelaide Festival of Arts; and the international presentation of six South Australian artists in FLIPSIDE, at The Substation, Singapore, to coincide with the 2008 Singapore Biennale and ARTSingapore. The South Australian artist George Popperwell's CACSA monograph, and other projects such as the NEW NEW in 2010.
Viv Miller's limited print edition and other recent works were on view at the CACSA gallery from 14 November - 19 December 2008, as part of the exhibition Mentor Mentored4 which features the pairings of South Australian artists Ken Bolton/Viv Miller and Louise Haselton/Tim Sterling.
