White Trash

Mel Curtis

Stepping out after the tradition of the peripatetic artist/philosopher with but a song for shelter, artist Mel Curtiss uses her daily practice of walking and collecting to explore the rhythms and possibilities of everyday life. Mel's walks take place in urban space - understood here as produced by and productive of social being. White Trash is a socio-spatial ruse; a pas de deux with the blanching force of 21st century urban sprawl. With trenchant wit White Trash finds, makes space for and celebrates diversity within homogeneity.
